Lord Arthur Savile's Crime by Charlotte Cox (from a story by Oscar Wilde) - Spring 2013

l - r Christine Trenholm, James Potter, Chris Bullock, Jan Bolam, Tamsin Bolam.

Our 70th anniversary production was a revival of a play we first produced in 1980. Lord Arthur Savile seems to have everything - youth, money and a beautiful fiancee - but one evening a fortune teller tells him that he will commit a murder and his world is turned upside down. He resolves to commit his murder before he get married so as not to cause his fiancee, Sybil, any distress. In order to make this task more straightforward he attempts to kill various of his relatives, with absolutely no success. However, things take an unexpected turn with the help of Herr Winkelkopf, a German anarchist.

Some members of the original cast were in the audience for this production and it was really good to welcome them back. It is incredible to think that this society originated so long ago, in the midst of the second world war, and that is still going strong!

The play was directed by Deborah Hugill.
